Blake Herzinger joins the program to discuss his recent article for Proceedings about embarking academics on naval vessels. Blake is a Pacific Forum non-resident WSD-Handa fellow and a U.S. Navy Reserve officer. He has spent 13 years in service with the U.S. Navy as an intelligence officer, with experience across the Indo-Pacific and Middle East.

Dr. Mark Benbow, an associate professor of history at Marymount University, joins Sea Control to discuss his book, Woodrow Wilson’s Wars: the Making of America’s first modern Commander in Chief. Dr. Benbow explores the role of Woodrow Wilson as the commander-in-chief during his presidency and argues how Wilson serves as a decent model for modern wartime leaders.

Sea Control- 404 An Updated Perspective on China with Robert Haddick

Robert Haddick joins Sea Control to discuss his book Fire on the Water: China, America, and the future of the Pacific. The second edition of the book has recently been published by the Naval Institute Press.

Robert Haddick is a visiting senior fellow at the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies, Air Force Association. He is a former U.S. Marine Corps officer with experience in East Asia and Africa. Haddick was a contractor for U.S. Special Operations Command and performed research for the Pentagon’s Office of Net Assessment. He was a national security columnist at Foreign Policy Magazine and has delivered lectures on strategy across the U.S. government.

Dr. Curatola examines the events of the Fall of 1949, that changed the American view of National Security and shaped how the U.S. military operated during the Cold War.
