Admiral James Stavridis joins the program about his new book, To Risk It All: Nine Conflicts and the Crucible of Decision.

His new book is tackling the issue of decision making under extreme pressure drawing from his experience on command and distinguished leadership for more than 30 years in the US navy. Admiral Stavridis presents nine pivotal moments in the history of the US navy. He has published nine other books, including 2034: A Novel of the Next World War, with Elliott Ackerman, and is chief international analyst for NBC News and a contributing editor for Time magazine. He is currently the Vice Chair, Global Affairs of the Carlyle Group and the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Rockefeller Foundation.

Greg directs the Southeast Asia Program and Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, where he is also a Senior Fellow. He is a leading expert on the South China Sea disputes and conducts research on U.S. alliances and partnerships and maritime security across the Indo-Pacific.

LCDR Green, USN (ret.) served as the executive officer of a Pegasus-class hydrofoil (PHM) and is the author of Black Officer, White Navy (2017).

CAPT Robert Herbert, USN (Ret.) joins the program to discuss his article in the January 2022 edition of USNI Proceedings entitled, “Embrace the F-Word.” He retired in 2021 from the U.S. Naval Academy faculty, where he served as the Robert T. Herres distinguished military professor of ethics. He previously served for 26 years as a Naval Special Warfare officer and commanded SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team Two, Naval Special Warfare Unit Three, and the Naval Special Warfare Center.
