Dr. Kristie Flannery discusses her book, Piracy and the Making of the Spanish Pacific World. Dr. Flannery discusses how alliances with native Filipinos to combat piracy in the region was essential for Spanish success in the Philippines. Dr. Flannery is a research fellow in the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences at Australian Catholic University.
