Sea Control 438 – Small States and the Law of the Sea with Dr. Douglas Guilfoyle

Dr. Douglas Guilfoyle joins the program to discuss his paper in British Yearbook of International Law: “Litigation as Statecraft: Small States and the Law of the Sea.”

Douglas Guilfoyle is Professor of International Law and Security at the University of New South Wales Canberra at the Australian Defence Force Academy. His principal areas of research are maritime security, the international law of the sea and international and transnational criminal law.

Sea Control 437 – Kaliningrad: Perception and Reality with Dr. Steve Wills

The Center for Maritime Strategy’s Navalist, Dr. Steve Wills, joins us to discuss perception and reality as it relates to the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. Steve is a Research Scientist with CNA’s Strategy and Policy Analysis Program. As a Navy historian, his research interests include the history of U.S. Navy strategy development over the Cold War and immediate post-Cold War eras, and the post-World War II Navy surface fleet.

Vincent P. O’Hara and Trent Hone join the program to discuss their most recent edited volume, Fighting in the Dark, Naval Combat at Night, 1904-1944.

Vincent P. O’Hara is an independent historian who specializes in early and mid-20th century naval warfare. He is the author of nineteen books and edited volumes. Trent Hone is a historian with a focus on the United States Navy and author of Learning War, Mastering the Art of Command, and Battle Line.
